
Mocal Oil Cooler Kit For Gen 1 MINI's
The coolers are constructed of aluminium pressed plates forming the oil ways and end tanks, the oil ways contain turbulators which help achieve maximum heat dissipation, and provide structural integrity to the cooler under pressure. The design is beautifully simple but restricted to a 2β thickness and a limited amount of lengths.
The maximum working pressure of the coolers is 10bar/150psi, however, each cooler is tested to 11.5bar/170psi, which is more than adequate for most but arduous applications. A MINI revving at 7000 rpm runs at 5bar maximum oil pressure and thus will stay well within the working limits of the oil cooler.
The kit contains a top quality textile braided elastomer (a type of black rubber) covered hose in 1/2β bore, with swaged on fittings (BSP thread). If you choose braided hoses β then the hose will have a stainless steel braid covering which enhances appearance and gives extra resistance to abrasion.
To complete the kit a take-off plate, which replaces the standard water-to-oil heat exchanger, and a pair of universal mounting brackets are included. The latter can be bent & cut to allow for various locations of the oil cooler (we recommend β in the lower radiator area under the aluminium cross member).
